Doesn’t this epic scenery remind you of those vistas of the Old West that you’ve seen in the movies? If you hadn’t noticed the title and caption above, would you honestly have been able to guess just exactly where this is? Canyonlands National Park perhaps? A section of the Grand Canyon? Other? Actually, this destination, Dead Horse Point State Park is, in our opinion, as spectacular as any of those. And it’s very accessible! The vista you see here is from Dead Horse Point, over 2,000 feet above a gooseneck in the Colorado River.  The landscapes spreading to the horizons are visual masterpieces—enormous vertical cliffs that border canyons carved in  sandstone over eons by ice, water and winds. This park is actually near the much better known Canyonlands National Park and Arches National Park. It’s a “must” if you have traveled all the way to Moab, Utah!
